Sony Says No Discount When Transferring Games From UMD to Digital
A fact that is probably very upsetting to adopters of the first generation PSP and above, is that Sony will not offer discounted prices for the digital versions of games if you already own the UMD. As sad as this is, it makes sense, the used games market still has plenty of UMD games floating around. If someone bought a UMD and entered it in for a discount, the total cost could be dramatically reduced. Source: Engadget
Nintendo Files Patent For Wii-Mote Touchpad
Nintendo seems to like designing things that don’t really fit int today’s world. First it was the heartbeat sensor which attached to your finger. A semi good idea, but it never saw mass appeal. Next up we have the new Wii U remote which is set to come out as the consoles main controller. Big and pricey I have doubts about the Wii U (besides the HD
). That brings us to today when Nintendo has reportedly filed a patent for a touchpad accessory for the Wii-Mote. It has a design much like that of a ventilation shaft running outside a business and attaches to the end of the Wii-mote. Just by looking at it I can only hope it either does the same thing many of Apples patents do (just sit there and never come to anything) or suffer the same fate as the heartbeat sensor. Nintendo you really should get your head out of Japan and focus on what the rest of the world wants. You have already been way outdone by the Playstation Move, and the Wii U will probably be a step in the wrong direction.
I look forward to going to PAX East next April and I hope my assumptions aren’t true, I hope.
